In the 16 years since Richard started his mining career as a degree qualified geotechnical engineer he has progressed rapidly. A number of positions that he has held are; Underground Production Geologist, Technical Services Manager, Operations Manager for a multi-mine, 381 person, 33 million BCM overburden & 4.2 million product tonnes per year operation; and more recently he has returned to Queensland in a consulting role. Richard has also gained relevant production experience, working as Technical Services Superintendant and Longwall Superintendant at an underground coal operation, where he was tasked with assisting in the successful delivery and transition from a small underground operation to a longwall mine.
During this time he managed to gain extensive experience in the field of operational mine management, industrial relations, production management, technical services management, mining engineering, exploration and resource proving. In addition to this Richard has invaluable geotechnical engineering and consulting geotechnical engineering experience, gained from some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s most challenging UG and OC operations.
Richard is registered with CPEng, REPQ and is a member of AusIMM. He has the necessary background and experience in coal resource exploration, resource modelling and coal mine planning to be classed as a competent person for JORC compliant resource and reserve statements.
