About the role

We are looking for a driven and practical geotechnical engineer with experience in underground hardrock mining operations and who is seeking to join an established geological and geotechnical consulting company. We are industry specialists and we are growing.

The ideal candidate will be given flexibility and support from the senior leadership team to develop professionally, work with existing clients and to build a network of new clients.

This role will required travel to and from sites and mostly likely be FIFO in nature depending on the Client. Ideally, home base will be in Brisbane, with our office in the CBD. If working on project offsite, we offer flexible working arrangements to suit your needs – i.e. work from home. 

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: 

• Degree or Masters level qualifications in geotechnical engineering
• +5 Years operational or consulting experience – underground hardrock operations
• Design and analysis experience using industry standard software, such as Rocscience packages, Maptek software or Itasca software
• Strong commitment to professional engineering standards (RPEQ preferred)
• Safety focused with exceptional communication skills
• Strong network and well established name within the geotechnical community
• Excellent report writing and analytical skills

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The underground geotechnical will report to the Principal Consultant and will be responsible for:

• Providing specialised geotechnical support to operations in the areas of geotechnical risk management, geotechnical design and monitoring
• Undertake geotechnical design studies for mining developments, active operations and mine closure
• Perform site inspections and monitoring
• Technical lead and project management for feasibility and optimisation studies
• Development and management of an extensive client base
• Development and management of a strong team of engineers to deliver projects on time and budget
